Where’s Wolfmeyer?

In addition to a full-time job, weekend getaways with my husband, aging parents, an out-of-state wedding, and generally yacht-rocking my way through another summer, I finished four quilts. One of them, New Harmony: Fire, is third in a series, and the first quilt I’ve hand quilted myself in decades. When I first started making quilts in the late 90’s I hand quilted all my own work. After a serendipitous, albeit divine meeting with the late Virgie Hoffman my quilts were soon hand quilted by Catholic Church-basement groups in northeastern Iowa, and later, mostly anonymous Amish women in Indiana.

Almost 30 years later, I am hand quilting my own quilts. It takes time, but is wholly satisfying. I’m using Wonderfil Eleganza embroidery thread, and am pleased with the results. Five quilt tops are ready to be hand quilted (see below), one is already with an Amish quilter, and the remaining four are mine to master.
