I have driven by this Summit Street Historic District (Iowa City, Iowa) sign countless times. My desire to translate it into a quilt block increased with each passing. The classic repeating Schoolhouse quilt block (along with Log Cabin) is one of my favorites. I was an aspiring architect as a child and spent countless hours alone in my room drawing dream home plans, and making buildings with Lego, Lincoln Logs, and Girder & Panel blocks.
