Inspired by one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s concrete block houses, the Millard House in Pasadena, California, I started this quilt in response to the devastating Southern California fires of January 2025. This quilt is a value study in color.

Inspired by scores of triangular leftover pieces from Aprés Le Sueur. Once completed, the flower like medallion shapes that emerged resembled the Rose of Sharon blossom, a flower rich with symbolic meaning, from the Bible to John Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.
